August:
Children will learn rules and expectations for PE.
3rd grade will take their pre-test for the SLT and learn how to complete the fitness measurements of the Fitnessgram.
4th grade will start the pre-test for the Fitnessgram.
September:
Students will play games that increase heart rate as we discuss physical fitness.
3rd and 4th grade will finish the Fitnessgram testing.
October:
Games will be centered around Halloween activities and the infamous parachute will make an appearance.
November:
We will play turkey games and talk about nutrition as the holidays roll in.
December:
The climbing wall will be introduced and lots of nutritional awareness before we break for the long holiday.
January:
We will begin heart health and jump rope skills.
February:
Kids' Heart Challenge will be held on February 13th.
March:
Field Day preparations begin.
Post tests for fitnessgram and SLTs will be administered this month and following.
April:
April 17th is Field Day!
May:
End of school fun! Lots of new games are introduced to keep the kids excited about fitness!
